Inter State One-Day League 2012-13, Round-up, Feb 15

In the ongoing Inter State One-Day League Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha posted victories on February 15. Here is the round-up for the day.

North Zone

DDCA vs Punjab in Dharamsala: No result.

SSCB vs J and K in Bilaspur: No result.

Himachal vs Haryana in Nadaun: No result.

South Zone

Kerala vs Karnataka in Goa: Karnataka registered a 52-run victory over Kerala. For Karnataka, opener Lokesh Rahul scored 86, while Robin Uthappa and Stuart Binny made half-centuries. Ganesh Satish and Karun Nair also got chipped in with substantial contributions to take their side to 322.

The Karnataka bowlers then restricted Kerala to 270 for six in 50 overs. Despite contributions from the middle and lower orders, Kerala couldn’t recover from the loss of the top three wickets early on and fell short of the target.

Andhra vs Hyderabad in Goa: Andhra pulled off a thrilling two-run win over Hyderabad after setting them a 203-run target at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium. After electing to bat first, Bodapati Sumanth’s 63 helped Andhra post 202 runs, before being bowled out. Ashish Reddy and Pragyan Ojha claimed three wickets each to help bowl Andhra out in 48.5 overs.

Led by K S Shahbuddin’s four-for, the Andhra bowling attack wrapped up the Hyderabad innings for 200, with two balls to spare. P Vijay Kumar took three wickets, while B Sudhakar took two and M Ajay Kumar chipped in with one to help Andhra win the match.

Tamil Nadu vs Goa in Goa: Tamil Nadu registered a thumping 92-run victory over Goa at the District Institute of Education and Training Ground.

After electing to bat first, Tamil Nadu were propelled to 274 for nine by Dinesh Karthik’s 87-ball 90-run knock and Baba Aparajith’s 75. The Sunil Sam-led TN bowling attack then ran through the Goa line-up. Sam claimed three, while Aparajith took two, while rest of the bowlers picked a wicket each to end the Goa innings for 182 in 43.1 overs.

West Zone

Mumbai vs Gujarat in Pune: Opting to field first, Gujarat skittled Mumbai out for 132 in 37.1 overs and then chased down the target in 24.2 overs to post an eight-wicket win. Although Mumbai put together 72 runs for the first wicket, the rest of the batting line-up was dismantled by Mehul Patel (two wickets), Akshar Patel (four for 24) and Jesal Karia (three wickets).

Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel (49) and opener Priyank Panchal (46) then ensured a smooth victory for their team with a 91-run opening stand.

Central Zone

Vidarbha vs Railways in Indore: After Amit Paunikar powered Railways to 242 for six, Vidarbha made 213 for six and won the match by four wickets as per the VJD system.

UPCA vs MPCA in Indore: Chasing 206 to win, Madhya Pradesh beat Uttar Pradesh by five wickets at the Holkar Stadium. Mohammad Kaif made 55, while skipper Suresh Raina scored 36 as UPCA scored 205 for nine in their allotted 50 overs. Anand Rajan ran through the UPCA middle order to finish with a four-for in the innings, while Ishwar Pandey claimed two wickets.

In reply, although they lost their openers early in their innings, the MPCA middle-order contributed with substantially to take the team to a comfortable victory. Jatin Saxena top-scored with 45, while Udit Birla made 44 and Harpreet Singh remained not-out on 41.
