U-19 Cooch Behar: Mah vs Mum – Day 4
Maharashtra lifted the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy 2012-13 on the basis of their 56-run first-innings lead against defending champions Mumbai.
Resuming on their overnight score of 205, Maharashtra U-19 continued to pile on runs in the second innings on the last day of the four-day final as Mumbai U-19 struggled to get breakthroughs. With 546 runs in the second innings, the home team had amassed a mammoth 602-run lead, before being bowled out later in the day. Opener Vijay Zol, who was unbeaten on 119 when play ended yesterday, added 62 runs to his tally, before being sent back by M Rane for 181. Shubham Ranjane too notched up a century. The top-order batsman made 169, before returning to the dressing room.
With the result a foregone conclusion, the Mumbai openers posted 46 runs on the board, before play was called off in Pune.
Result: Match Drawn, but Maharashtra win on the basis of a first-innings lead.
