U-19 Cooch Behar: Mah vs Mum – Day 2
Mumbai were trailing by 134 runs with three wickets in hand at the end of Day 2 of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in Pune against Maharashtra. After posting 294 in the first innings, Maharashtra dealt early blows to Mumbai to reduce them to 160 for 7 at stumps.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra added 66 runs to their overnight score. The innings came to an end when VP Nirfal, who resumed the day at 30, was run-out for 62. Atul Singh, who had claimed four wickets to help topple the Maharashtra top-order on Day 1, completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Kazi Shamsu Zuma.
Amol Chinte sent back Mumbai opener Amogh Bhatkal in the first over without a run on the board. In no time, PY Pawar was run-out leaving Mumbai reeling on 3 for 2. Kazi then claimed Akhil Herwadkar to end his blossoming partnership with SS Iyer while JP Zope castled Sagar Kerkar. Chinte returned to dismiss Iyer and Sarfarz Khan to take this wicket-tally to three.
At stumps on the second day of the four-day match, Mumbai were 160 for seven with Sagar Mishra and MN Rane at the crease.
