Punjab, Saurashtra and Mumbai have qualified for the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy semi-finals by securing first-innings leads over their respective opponents. With SSCB (Services) already qualified after beating Uttar Pradesh, the draw for the semi-final is now complete.

Saurashtra will take on Punjab at Rajkot and Mumbai will play SSCB at Delhi-Palam from January 16 to 20.

Jharkhand vs Punjab in Jamshedpur: Taruvar Kohli led Punjab’s charge with an unbeaten 300 as Jiwanjyot Singh continued his dream season with yet another sparkling century at the top of the order. Uday Kaul too struck a ton as Punjab cruised past Jharkhand’s first-innings total of 401. Punjab declared at 699 for three on the final day and bowled 13 overs, before the game ended in a draw.

Saurashtra vs Karnataka in Rajkot: Cheteshwar Pujara scored a timely triple-century in Rajkot to press his case for an ODI debut at his home ground on Friday. Part of the 15-man squad chosen for the five-match series against England, Pujara has staked his claim with a 352-run knock at a strike-rate of 82.43. Thanks to Pujara’s marathon knock, Saurashtra left field with a mammoth 718 for nine when the match was declared drawn. This was Pujara’s second triple-ton in the Ranji Trophy and fifth overall for Saurashtra – he scored one at the Under-14 level and two at the Under-22 level.

Mumbai vs Baroda in Mumbai: After centuries from Wasim Jaffer, Sachin Tendulkar and Abhishek Nayar took Mumbai to 645 for nine (decl), Vishal Dabholkar (3/88), Javed Khan (2/27) and Dhawal Kulkarni (2/58) ensured a first-innings lead for them by dismissing Baroda for 271. Kiran Pawar’s 115 took Mumbai to 295 for six (decl) in the second innings with Baroda’s Bhargav Bhatt picking up three wickets. The game eventually ended in a draw with Baroda at 137 for three.
