Stats Highlights: Ind vs Eng, 4th Test, Day 2
Day 2 of the fourth and final Test between India and England saw a spirited performance from Piyush Chawla, before England got back into the game by claiming four Indian wickets. Chawla, who was returning to the Test side after a prolonged gap, recorded figures of 4/69.
Meanwhile, James Anderson also had a good day at the office. The England pacer claimed three scalps, which included Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket. The Lancashire bowler now holds the record for dismissing the master batsman a record nine times in Test cricket.

Piyush Chawla (4/69) returned his best figures in Test cricket, bettering his 2/66 against South Africa at Kanpur in 2007-08.
Virender Sehwag was dismissed for a duck for the 16th time in Test cricket. 15 of them have come while opening the innings. Only two openers have aggregated more ducks than Sehwag in Test cricket – Mike Atherton (17) and Marvan Atapattu (16).
Gautam Gambhir, while on 16, completed his 4000 runs in Test cricket. He became the 12th Indian to reach this landmark. Gambhir is only the second left-hander, after Sourav Ganguly (7212), to do so.
James Anderson dismissed Sachin Tendulkar for the 9th time in Test cricket – the most for any bowler. He was earlier at level with Muttiah Muralitharan with 8 dismissals.
Bowlers to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar on most occasions: Anderson (9), Muralitharan (8), Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie (6 each); and Hansie Cronje, Allan Donald, Brett Lee and Daniel Vettori (5 each).
Tendulkar has now been dismissed bowled on 53 occasions in Test cricket, thus equalling Allan Border’s tally. Only Rahul Dravid (55) has been dismissed more often in this fashion.
In 2012 Sachin Tendulkar has been dismissed bowled six times. His tally is the highest for any batsman this year.
