Ranji Trophy 2012-13: Round-up, Dec 11
Mumbai, Dec 11: Gujarat, Karnataka and Saurashtra pulled off victories on the final day of the sixth round of the Ranji Trophy 2012-13. Here is the round-up for the day:
Rajasthan vs Gujarat in Ahmedabad: After Rajasthan resumed their second innings on 29 for two, Rakesh Dhruv ran through the opposition line-up to bowl them out for 119 earlier today. The bowler finished with an eight-wicket haul in the second innings. Gujarat then chased down the 102-run target for the loss of two wickets to claim six points from the win.
Punjab vs Mumbai in Mumbai: Manpreet Gony claimed four key wickets on the fourth day to claim a fiver in the innings and help Punjab receive three points from their match against Mumbai. Although the match ended in a draw, Ankeet Chavan claimed nine wickets to skittle Punjab out for 59 in the second innings. For the full match report click here.
MPCA vs Railways in Bhubaneswar: Madhya Pradesh claimed three points from their draw against Railways. Asked to follow on, the Sanjay Bangar-led side were 251 for eight when the match ended at the East Coast Railway Sports Association in Bhubaneswar.
Saurashtra vs Bengal in Rajkot: Saurashtra beat Bengal by 270 runs to gain six points from their sixth round match of the 2012-13 season.
Chasing 431 for victory, Bengal were bowled out for 160 on the last day of the match. After contributing with the bat successfully throughout the season so far, Ravindra Jadeja claimed a four-wicket haul, while Nayan Doshi picked three wickets to bundle out the opposition.
Haryana vs Maharashtra in Pune: In the drawn game at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Maharashtra claimed three points on the basis of their first innings lead against Haryana.
Haryana who resumed their second innings on 75 for two on the final day were 255 for the loss of seven wickets when the match ended today and picked up one point from the game.
UPCA vs Vidarbha in Nagpur: Visitors UP collected three points on the basis of their first innings lead against Vidarbha at the VCA Stadium.
After UP declared their innings for 548, the home team was bowled out for 308 on the last day. When the match ended UP were 175 for one with skipper Suresh Raina unbeaten on 105. UP gained three points from the match, while Vidarbha received one point.
Assam vs Himachal in Guwahati: Resuming on 158 for four, Rishi Dhawan slammed a century to help Himachal post 316 for five on the final day and finish with a draw. Both teams received one point each from the match held at the Nehru Stadium.
SSCB vs Goa in Porvorim: Services gained three points on the basis of their first innings lead against Goa at the District Institute of Education and Training Ground. After posting 473 in the first innings, the Soumik Chatarjee-led side bowled out Goa for 381 earlier today. Services were 99 for the loss of two wickets when the match was called off.
Karnataka vs Delhi in Banglore: Karnataka registered a thumping 159-run victory over Delhi and gained six points from the match.
After setting Delhi a 410-run target yesterday, the hosts bowled them out for 250 on the last day of the match. Vinay Kumar and HS Sharath claimed three wickets each, while Stuart Binny took two and Abhimanyu Mithun and KP Appanaa chipped in with a wicket each.
Tripura vs Jharkhand in Agartala: Jharkhand beat Tripura by seven wickets and claimed six points from the win.
Odisha vs Baroda in Baroda: Baroda beat Odisha by 10 wickets at the Moti Bagh Stadium to claim seven points from the match.
J & K vs Kerala in Malappuram: J&K picked six points from their 74-run win against Kerala on the third day of the game.
