Ranji Trophy 2012-13: Round-up, Dec 9
Mumbai, Dec 8: Jharkhand beat Tripura by seven wickets on the second day of the four-day match. Here is the round-up for the day:
Rajasthan vs Gujarat in Ahmedabad: Resuming on 182 for five, captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar propelled to 294 with an unbeaten century in the first innings; while Rakesh Dhruv claimed six wickets for the home team.
The hosts were 104 for one with Samit Gohel and Bhargav Merai at the crease when play ended on the second day.
Punjab vs Mumbai in Mumbai: After Punjab piled on 580 runs in the first innings courtesy a double-century by Mandeep Singh, Mumbai were 69 for one when stumps were called. For the full report click here.
MPCA vs Railways in Bhubaneswar: Resuming on 212 for five, MPCA were bowled out for 377. Rameez Khan who was unbeaten on 82 was the first to depart after scoring 128. Railways were 63 without loss when play was called off today.
Saurashtra vs Bengal in Rajkot: Saurashtra were leading by 231 runs with six wickets in hand at the end of second day’s play at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. After enjoying an impressive run with the bat, Ravindra Jadeja claimed four wickets, while Nayan Doshi picked three to bowl Bengal out for a paltry 112 in the first innings. Skipper Manoj Tiwary who retired hurt was the top-scorer for the visitors with 55 runs.
Saurashtra were 134 for four with Jadeja batting on 67 and Sheldon Jackson on 16 when stumps were called.
Haryana vs Maharashtra in Pune: After Haryana were all out for 257 yesterday, Maharashtra commenced their innings today and were 302 for three at stumps. Sangram Atitkar was unbeaten on 118 with R Motwani on 11 when play ended.
UPCA vs Vidarbha in Nagpur: Resuming their first innings on 284 for four on the second day of the four-day match, UP were 524 for the loss of seven wickets when play ended today evening. AN Alam ws seven runs short of his century with Bhuvenshwar Kumar batting on 34 at the other end.
Odisha vs Baroda in Baroda: Resuming on 34 for one, Baroda were 290 for the loss of six wickets with GR Natt and KP Patel batting on 12 and 3 respectively when stumps were called at the Moti Bagh Stadium.
Assam vs Himachal in Guwahati: Resuming on the overnight score of 213 for four, Assam were bowled out for 354 earlier in the day. Rishi Dhawan claimed a four-wicket haul to help wrap up the HP innings in 117.5 overs.
In response HP were 62 without loss with skipper Aakash Chopra and Varun Sharma at the crease at the end of the day’s play.
J & K vs Kerala in Malappuram: Kerala were bundled out for 163 by J&K on the second day of the match. P G Zargar and M G Gujree claimed three wickets each while WM Paray and MS Gupta picked two wickets apiece to give J&K a first innings lead in the match.
J&K were 68 for three when the match ended today.
SSCB vs Goa in Porvorim: Services added 189 runs to their overnight total to register a first innings total of 473 before being bowled out on the second day. Shadab Jakati helped wrap up the tail with a four-for at the District Institute of Education and Training Ground.
When play ended today, Goa had lost opener Sagun Kamat and were trailing by 409 runs in the first innings with nine wickets in hand.
Tripura vs Jharkhand in Agartala: Timir Chanda claimed six and MB Murasingh picked four to bowl Jharkhand for 139 in the first innings earlier today, Tripura were skittled out for 86 in the second innings. Shankar Rao (five wickets) and Ajay Yadav (four wickets) ran through the Tripura line-up to bundle them out on the second day and set-up victory. Chasing 54 to win, Jharkhand reached the target in 16.2 overs. The Shahbaz Nadeem-led side claimed six points from the win.
