Jadeja first Indian to get 3 triple tons
Mumbai, Dec 02: Ravindra Jadeja today became the first Indian to score THREE triple hundreds in first-class cricket. Jadeja ended Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match against Railways at Rajkot with an unbeaten 320 – his second triple hundred this season. He had made an unbeaten 303 against Gujarat at Surat last month. Jadeja’s other triple ton had come against Odisha at Cuttack in last season.
Jadeja has now moved ahead of five other Indians – Vijay Hazare, Raman Lamba, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer. These five have two triple hundreds against their name. In all first-class cricket only three batsmen – Don Bradman, Bill Ponsford and Wally Hammond – have scored more triple hundreds than Jadeja. Four batsmen – WG Grace, Graeme Hick, Mike Hussey and Brian Lara – have scored three triple hundreds like Jadeja.
Jadeja has now also achieved the distinction of scoring two triple tons in one season – a feat hitherto performed by only three players.
