Stats Highlights: Ind vs Eng, First Test, Day 3
Mumbai, Nov 17: After a forgettable first innings batting display, England pulled up their socks in their second at bat. Their charge was led by skipper Alastair Cook, who remained unbeaten on a well-compiled 74 at stumps on Day 3. Cook now has an outstanding batting average of 114.25 while leading his country.
Apart from him, even Pragyan Ojha, one half of India’s lethal spin twins, had an outstanding outing today. The left-arm spinner got his fourth fiver in Test as he ran through the England line-up in their first innings. Here are these some more interesting stats from a very engaging day of Test cricket at Motera:
It was the sixth time that India enforced follow-on on England. Out of the previous five occasions India won three and drew two Tests. The last such occasion was at Leeds in 2002. India won that Test by an innings and 46 runs.
The last time India enforced the follow-on on England in India was way back in 1992-93 at Chennai. They went on win the Test by an innings and 22 runs.
Since 2000, India have enforced the follow-on on the opponents on 5 occasions at home. They have won 4 and drawn one.
