Mumbai, Nov 17: Round three of the Ranji Trophy 2012-13 saw Haryana being bowled out for a paltry total as Basant Mohanty claimed a fiver for Odisha. Here is the round-up for the day:

MPCA vs Rajasthan in Jaipur: Pankaj Singh and Rituraj Singh claimed four wickets each after Rajasthan opted to bowl first at the KL Saini Ground. In the absence of Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Vineet Saxena led Rajasthan against MPCA. Lower-order bat Rameez Khan made 54, while captain Devendra Bundela made 53 batting at No.4 for the visitors before they were bowled out for 256 on the first day.

In reply the host’s were seven for one when play was called off with Saxena unbeaten on two.

Saurashtra vs Hyderabad in Hyderabad: Opting to bat first, Saurashtra were 251 for seven at stumps on Day 1 of their match against Hyderabad. Bhushan Chauhan and skipper Jaydev Shah scored 47 runs each while lower-order bat Sheldon Jackson contributed 67.

Kamlesh Makvana and Sandip Maniar were batting on 26 and 17 respectively when play ended today. Ashish Reddy claimed a four-wicket haul for the home team.

Railways vs Punjab in Bhubaneswar: Playing on their home ground at the East Coast Railway Sports Association Railways were 193 for seven in the first innings at the end of first day’s play against Punjab.

Put in to bat, Railways lost both their openers with just 16 runs on the board. Nitin Bhille top scored with 41 as they battled it out against the visitors on Day 1 of the match. Manpreet Gony, Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul picked two scalps each, while Bipul Sharma took one wicket for Punjab.

Gujarat vs Bengal in Kolkata: Playing their third match of the tournament at the Eden Gardens, Gujarat were 230 for six at stumps. After Bengal opted to field first, Sourav Sarkar got the ball rolling with the wicket of Priyank Panchal in the sixth over. The pacer claimed two more later in the day, while Shami Ahmed, Ashoke Dinda and Iresh Saxena picked one each.

Manprit Juneja and Rakesh Dhruv were batting on 41 and 38 when play ended in the evening. Earlier Smit Patel made 67, while Parthiv Patel made 61 before being dismissed.

Tamil Nadu vs Maharashtra in Chennai: Shrikant Mundhe dealt early blows to leave Tamil Nadu reeling on eight for the loss of three wickets after opting to bat first. A late rescue act by Ramaswamy Prasanna (56), Yo Mahesh (81) and M Rangarajan (50) then helped TN post 273 for nine before play was called off on the first day.

After Mundhe picked three, Samad Fallah and Akshay Darekar claimed two each while Satyajeet Bachhav and Chirag Khurana took one apiece.

Haryana vs Odisha in Rohtak: After bundling Haryana out for 66 runs, Odisha led by 111 runs with four wickets in hand at the end of Day 1.

Basant Mohanty claimed a fiver, while Biplab Samantray picked three to bowl out Haryana for a paltry total. In response Odisha were 177 for six  with Nataraj Behera and Samantray contributing 44 and 42 runs respectively, before returning to the dressing room. Mohit Sharma took four of the six Odisha wickets that fell today.

Baroda vs Delhi in Delhi: Put in to bat at Feroz Shah Kotla, Baroda were 252 for loss of three wickets at the end of Day 1. Abhimanyu Chauhan was unbeaten on 82 with Ambati Rayudu on 83 when play was called off.

Rajat Bhatia claimed two wickets while Sumit Narwal picked one for Delhi.

Andhra vs Himachal in Amtar: Put in to bat, although AP lost their top three early in the innings with 60 runs on the board, Bodapati Sumanth and Amol Muzumdar hit centuries took their team to a modest total on the first day. AP were 331 for seven with Duvvarapu Shivkumar and Rajesh Pawar at the crease.

Vikramjeet Malik and Rishi Dhawan picked three wickets apiece for HP.

Kerala vs Assam in Malappuram: Batting first at the Perintalmanna Cricket Stadium, Kerala were 211 for five in the four-day game against Assam.

Abhishek Hegde was the top scorer for Kerala with 46, while Arlen Konwar picked three wickets for Assam.

SSCB vs Tripura in Agartala: Unbeaten centuries by captain Ansuhl Gupta (112*) and Yashpal Singh (110*) propelled Services to 277 for three at the end of Day 1. Playing at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium against Tripura, Services opted to bat first in the third round match of the Ranji Trophy 2012-13 season.

Jharkhand vs Goa in Jamshedpur: At stumps on Day 1 Jharkhand were 222 for two after electing to bat first at their home ground against Goa. Manish Vardhan and Sunny Gupta got the hosts off to a flying start with a 123 opening stand before the latter was sent back by Shadab Jakati for 53. 20 runs later, Saurabh Bandekar removed Vardhan for 73.

When play ended, Ishank Jaggi (56) was in the middle with Saurabh Tiwary (34).
