Report: England XI vs Haryana, Day 4
Ahmedabad, Nov 11: Jonathan Trott utilized the last opportunity of getting some time in the middle ahead of the important Test series against India by scoring a century on the final day of England’s warm-up match against Haryana. The match ended in a draw after Haryana finished with 133/6, chasing a mammoth target of 442.
England XI’s second innings resumed on 118 for no loss with Trott and Nick Compton batting past their respective half-centuries. The opening partnership ended at 162 when Compton was dismissed caught behind by off Sachin Rana. Trott, however, continued to bat and scored 101 off 183 balls before retiring from the innings.
Coming in at No.3, Ian Bell scored 48 off 62 balls with seven fours. Barring Tim Bresnan, who scored 14, the remaining batsmen failed to reach double figures and England XI declared their innings on 254/6. Sanjay Budhwar picked up three wickets for Haryana.
Chasing 442, Haryana opener Nitin Saini scored 50 but the rest of the batsmen failed to cross the 25-run mark. Tim Bresnan picked up two wickets – both caught behind. Graham Onions, Stuart Meaker, Monty Panesar and Samit Patel scalped a wicket each.
The match was declared a draw with Haryana at 133/6.
