India deserved to win: Bosisto
Townsville, Aug 26: William Bosisto anchored his team’s innings with a superb 87 not out earlier. But his opposition number, Unmukt Chand’s century overshadowed the Australian captain’s knock. However, Bosisto received the Player of the Series award at the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup for his consistent performances throughout the tournament.
After the defending champions lost the final to India, Bosisto reflected on the match and the tournament in a post-match interview. He also thanked the ICC, Cricket Australia and everyone who had contributed to the successful completion of the tournament.
Excerpts:
On his team after their finals loss
They are pretty deflated in the Aussie camp. We have had a great couple of weeks and we appreciate all the support [that we received]. Thanks very much.
On the few slip-ups in the field that could have made the difference
Yes, we dropped a few chances, pretty crucial ones. It would have been nice to hang on to them. But that is [what] the game of cricket [is about]. It can turn so quickly and we were on the wrong side of the ledger today.
On his inspiring batting performance and whether he was a bit tired in the middle today
Yes, it was pretty hot actually, [and] I actually felt like I was batting in India at one stage. It was tough work and the Indians did a fantastic job all day with the bat and the ball so they deserve to win.
On Unmukt Chand’s batting
He is a tremendous player. It is not the first time he has terrorised us. Hopefully, the next time we come up against him we can get him out earlier than a hundred.
