Mumbai, Aug 25:  South Africa trounced New Zealand by eight wickets in the 3rd place play-off at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2012.

Chasing a paltry 91 runs, the Proteas reached their target in just 14.4 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock, who scored 50 runs in 43 balls, set up an easy victory for his side. After he was trapped lbw by Ish Sodhi, Theunis de Bruyn finished the match with a nine-ball 19-run knock, while Diego Rosier remained unbeaten on nine at the other end.

Earlier, the young Black Caps were bundled out for just 90 in 36.5 overs. After South African pacers, Jan Frylinck and Calvin Savage, claimed the top order with two and three scalps respectively, David Rhoda took care of the lower order. The leg-spinner picked four wickets to return with figures of 9.5-1-26-4. Connor Neynens, who was the top-scorer for the Kiwi colts, was left stranded on 21 as he ran out of partners.

Calvin Savage was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for claiming three top-order wickets for 14 runs in four overs.
