WI A vs India A – 3rd Test, Day 3
Mumbai, June 19: Let down by their top-order India were 181 for seven at stumps on Day 3 of the four-day Test at the Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia.
Earlier, resuming on the overnight score of 320 for the loss of eight wickets, the hosts were bowled out for 336. Delorn Johnson (4) was the first to be dismissed by Shami Ahmed without adding to the overnight total while Kevin McClean (19) was removed by pacer Parvinder Awana.
The visitors then lost both the openers, in the fifth over and were struggling at four for 35 with Johnson claiming the top three. After removing Abhinav Mukund (20) and Ajinkya Rahane (2) in quick succession, the left-arm fast bowler then dismissed Rohit Sharma (2) while McClean claimed the key wicket of India skipper Cheteshwar Pujara (5).
Manoj Tiwary (62) and Wriddhiman Saha (48*) then stitched together a 95-run stand to help revive the Indian innings albeit temporarily. McClean then struck again to break the partnership. The pacer trapped Tiwary lbw and later followed-up with the wicket of Jalaj Saxena (2). It got worse for the Indians as Devendra Bishoo cleaned up Akshay Darekar (15) in the 56th over. Saha and Shami Ahmed (16*) remained unbeaten as the young Indians finished day 3 on 181 for 7
