WI A v India A – 3rd Test, day1
St. Lucia, June 18: The talented young Indian batsmen yet again failed to live up to the promise, folding for a paltry 230 in the first innings of the third Test against the West Indies A. Jonathan Carter and Devendra Bishoo were the main strikers for the hosts with three wickets apiece. At the end of the opening day, West Indies A were 34 without loss.
Jalaj Saxena was the lone half-centurion in the India A batting line-up. Coming in at No.8, he initiated a late charge on the Windies A attack with a 59-ball 61. Before him, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Manoj Tiwary got starts but failed to convert them. Rahane and Tiwary were caught behind with Permaul and Carter being the wicket-takers while skipper Pujara was run-out.
India A’s top run-getter Saxena was dismissed by leg-spinner Bishoo, who also accounted for the wickets of Robin Bist and last man Parvinder Awana. Carter claimed three important wickets of Rohit Sharma, Tiwary and Wriddhiman Saha.
