SL announce Asia Cup squad
Mumbai, March 3: Leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna replaces left-arm spinner Rangana Herath in Sri Lanka’s 14-man squad for the Asia Cup that begins on March 11 in Dhaka. Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal also returns after recovering from an ankle injury while fellow pacers Dhammika Prasad and Chanaka Welegedara failed to retain their spots after featuring in the ongoing CB Series in Australia.
All-rounders Farvez Maharoof, Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera have been included in the squad despite picking up minor injuries in the tri-series Down Under.
Lakmal is making a comeback after a long layoff; his last international appearance came during the ODI series against Pakistan in UAE in November 2011.
The squad will be captained by Mahela Jayawardene with Mathews as his deputy.
