Excited to play with superstars: Forrest
Adelaide, Feb 12: 26-year-old batsman Peter Forrest makes his debut for the Aussies at the Adelaide Oval, replacing the rested Michael Hussey. Though excited, Forrest intends to treat his debut outing like just another match.
Excerpts from a TV interview before the start of the 4th ODI of the CB Series.
On what he was feeling before his debut game
I was a bit nervous at the hotel but now on the ground I have settled down a bit. I can’t wait to get out there.
On when he was told he would be playing against India
I sort of got an idea when Mike Hussey wasn’t coming here after being rested so I’ve had a few days to think about it now. I am very excited and can’t wait.
On whether it’s just another game for him
That’s what I am trying to do at the moment. I suppose I won’t know until I get out there but I am preparing like it’s the same game with different colours. It’s a little bit different because you’ve got superstars in both the teams. I am not used to that.
On whether he asked Ricky Ponting for an autograph
I was close. It was a bit like the first day of school again with all these superstars. They’ve really helped me out and it’s really good seeing them prepare. It’s been really good for my development.
