Hope my luck changes: Ishant
Adelaide, Jan 25: With just four wickets to his name in the series so far, Ishant Sharma, like most of the touring Indians, is not having the best of series Down Under. Refusing to wallow in his lack of success, Sharma chooses to concentrate on bowling well while hoping his luck changes for the better.
Ishant spoke briefly in an interview at stumps on Day 2.
Excerpts:
On not picking up wickets in the series
I wake up every day with the hope that my luck will change for the better. All I try to do is do the best I can.
On keeping himself motivated
It hurts a lot when you go back to the dressing room and ask the analyst about your bowling figures and realise that you haven’t picked up a wicket. I think cricket is a very funny game; anything can happen anytime. What’s in your hand is to simply bowl well.
On the possibility of generating reverse swing
I feel the ball will reverse [swing] over here. The wicket is pretty flat and when the wicket deteriorates tomorrow, the ball will reverse swing.
On bowling with different cricket balls
There is a lot of difference. The benefit of playing in Australia is no matter which ball you bowl with, you’ll always get bounce.
