Mumbai meet Maharashtra in U-19 final

Mumbai will play Maharashtra in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy, the country’s premier inter-state domestic competition for the under-19s, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, from 28 January 2012 to 31 January 2012.

The Cooch Behar Trophy was instituted in 1945-46. It started off as a tournament between ten associations; the under-19 equivalent of the Ranji Trophy. It was played in an inter-zonal format from 1952-53 to 1989-90, before reverting to the ‘inter-state’ format in 1990-91.

 Mumbai have won the title six times. The first instance was in 1949-50. The side also triumphed in 1993-94, 1996-97, 2001-02, 2006-07 and 2008-09. Maharashtra won the title in 2005-06.
