It’s a huge thrill: Cowan
Perth, Jan 15: Australian opener Ed Cowan, who made an impressive debut in the Melbourne Test against India, was involved in a crucial partnership with David Warner at the WACA as well. The new talent spoke about his team in a brief interview with the TV broadcasters after the early end to the third Test.
On Australia dominating the first series he features in
Fantastic! Coming into the series, [I encountered] big names in the Indian team – [Sachin] Tendulkar, [Rahul] Dravid and [VVS] Laxman – I loved that contest. And to come out on top is a huge thrill.
On his most memorable moment in the last three Test matches
Probably off the field, the team song after the first Test. There was such emotion in the room and such pride. To absorb the Test win the way we did and then to celebrate Michael Clarke’s 300 – to be part of that was incredibly special to me.
On whether he dreamt about a day like this while growing up
I dream of them. There were moments in my career when I probably thought it would never happen. So to fulfill that dream has given me sleepless nights the last couple of weeks. I have been pinching myself thinking, ‘This is too good’. Hopefully we can keep that going.
On whether there has been talk of a 4-0 win in the dressing room
Absolutely. We wanted to make sure we wrapped up the series but now that’s our step to being the best team in the world. We have talked about this. When we get in a position to really dominate, we want to take advantage of it.
