Ahmedabad, Jan 24: India Women beat West Indies women by 15 runs in the third and final Twenty20 match to win the series 2-1 at Motera, Ahmedabad.

Electing to bat first at the Sardar Patel Stadium, India set WI a target of 129 runs.

As was the case in the previous game, West Indies were troubled by the bowling of Priyanka Roy. The visitors were not able to recover from the failure of the top and middle-order batsmen. Stacy-Ann King’s 37-run knock was not enough and in the end, 129 runs were too many to chase.

Back in the playing eleven, Soniya Dabir contributed with two wickets. With Amita Sharma and Gauhar Sultana claiming the key wickets of Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle, India were able to restrict WI to 113 runs.

Earlier, openers Poonam Raut and Amita Sharma made 21 runs in 2.4 overs to give India a blistering start. Mithali Raj, who came in at the fall of Sharma’s wicket in the third over, scored an unbeaten 51 runs to take India to 128 runs in the 20th over.

Shemaine Campbelle was the pick of the West Indies bowlers with three wickets and a catch.

India Women are deservedly on a high after having won both, the ODI and T20I series.
