One of the newest stadiums in Sri Lanka, the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium was built in 2009 and hosted its first international match during the 2011 ICC World Cup, between Sri Lanka and Canada. Situated in Hambantota, this stadium currently has the capacity to seat 35,000 people, which will grow to 60,000 by the 2012 ICC World Twenty20. One of the three venues for the T20 World Cup, the stadium will host three games in the tournament.
