Maharashtra lifted the 2012-13 Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy on the basis of their 56-run first-innings lead against defending champions Mumbai. Opting to bat first in Pune, Maharashtra were helped to 294 in the first innings by RT Sharma’s 87 and VP Nirfal’s 62. The hosts then bowled Mumbai U-19 out for 238, courtesy a four-for by Amol Chinte and two wickets by JP Zope, to put Maharashtra in the driver’s seat. Centurions Vijay Zol (181) and Shubham Ranjane (169) then powered their team to an unassailable 602-run lead on the last day, ensuring a win for last year’s runners-up.
