A leg-spinning all-rounder and a middle order bat, Malhotra was inspired to play cricket after watching K.S. Malhotra, her father, in action for the Indian Airlines team. Her best performance in the 2009 World Cup was an unbeaten 59 against New Zealand. Her thirty wickets at 6.96 in six matches, inclusive of three five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls, in the domestic Sr. Women’s two-day tournament in 2008-09, won her the BCCI’s M.A. Chidambaram Award for India’s Best Senior Lady Cricketer of the Year.
