Having made his debut in 1999, Ashish Nehra has some outstanding bowling performances, like the 6/23 against England in the 2003 ICC World Cup, to his credit. But unfortunately for the lanky left-arm fast bowler, injury woes and an inevitable loss of form have also been his lot.
Nehra was first drafted into the Indian Test squad, although his appearances in that format have largely been a stop-gap arrangement. He has given a better account of himself in ODIs and is one of the few Indian bowlers to have more than 100 wickets against his name in this format.
Nehra relies essentially on seam movement to trouble batsmen. His wiry frame suggests that his pace is unlikely to rush batsmen into playing their shots. But he does generate good speed which can take batsmen completely by surprise.
