Unadkat first came into public view when he debuted for the Kolkata Knight Riders at IPL 2010. But before that, he had already served notice by producing a match-winning 13 for 103 against West Indies A in his first-class debut. He may have been short on experience when he was selected, first as a replacement for an injured Zaheer Khan in the three-Test series against New Zealand, and then on the Indian tour of South Africa in the same year. But as his KKR bowling coach, the legendary Wasim Akram, said of Unadkat, “This young kid is the one to watch out for.”
